Clow One of the things that I hear on a regular basis when I'm shooting landscapes is people who walk by me and say things like: "I need a camera (or lens) like his and then I could get some really great shots". As a photographer who has spent years making every mistake in the book and learning to get better at my craft, I find it very irritating and I usually ignore the comment. It is the equivalent of complimenting a craftsman on their tools as opposed to appreciating what they do with those tools. I doubt if a person who makes handmade furniture has ever heard a stranger say "if only I had their tools, I could do that". Thus, as proof that it is not the expensive camera nor the lens that crafts a good photo - I challenged myself this summer at some of my favorite spots to shoot with my iPhone 5s. This was one location - Two Jack Lake in Alberta, Canada. Not surprisingly - no one complimented me on my lens or my camera....
