Image Solar Storm from TonySpencer

A quite spectacular display of the Auroras over a snow and ice encrusted forest deep inside Arctic Sweden. Photographing here on this particular night was not at all easy, with the temperatures below -35c (-32f) my mirror froze closed on my 1ds mkiii, initially I ran back to the car to give it a warm up but the condensation that would have caused would have given me even more problems. I jumped across to the 5dii instead. With careful wrapping it managed to stay free and working. After a couple of hours of very intense auroras the storm started to subside which allowed for a well deserved warm up in the car!
