PLEASE SEE ON BLACK, Thanks! "Long, blue, spiky-edged shadows crept out across the snow-fields, while a rosy glow, at first scarce discernible, gradually deepened and suffused every mountain-top, flushing the glaciers and the harsh crags above them. This was the alpenglow, to me the most impressive of all the terrestrial manifestations of God. At the touch of this divine light, the mountains seemed to kindle to a rapt, religious consciousness, and stood hushed like devout worshippers waiting to be blessed." ~John Muir Here's an image from my Eastern Sierras trip last year. I went to Convict Lake to catch the sunrise on a cool, crisp morning. With the moon shining bright, prior to the sunrise, I caught some nice Alpenglow on the mountain. The lone cloud in the sky soon drifted away leaving me with the cloudless sunrise. However, I thought I'd toss this one here to see what you guys think. A Lot of jiggling was involved. It was pretty cold, and I didn't have the best jacket on. There were a lot of people on either side of me so I'm pretty sure I passed on some of the jiggling to them as well. In any case, I made two exposures, one to catch the stars at a higher ISO and one to get the landscape in a noise free low ISO version. A lot of work was done to blend the two exposures together for not only were they at different exposure values, they were also covering different fields of view. I also used dodging and burning to get the look and feel I wanted for this image.
